Visit the Isle of Man Motor Museum

Hello,

We thought you may be interested in some information about the Isle of Man Motor Museum.

If you are thinking of visiting the Island (or even if you haven't thought about it before!) please contact us and we can help with planning your trip. We can provide information on ferries, accommodation (suitable for classics, bikes or supercars) and also places to visit and relaxing or exciting drives on the Island.

We are always pleased to accommodate club visits at the Museum and the Guard House Cafe and have a dedicated parking area for group visits. This year we are adding our Isle of Man TT Museum as a new attraction (details in press release below).

We hope to welcome you to the Museum in the future.

Please download our current leaflet for further information on the Museum.
ISLE OF MAN MOTOR MUSEUM OPENING OUR ISLE OF MAN TT MUSEUM IN MAY 2018
We are pleased to announce that our Isle of Man TT Museum will be opened within the Isle of Man Motor Museum in Jurby on Friday 25th May. We are honoured that the official opening will be performed by Gary Thompson MBE BEM, Clerk of the TT Course and General Secretary of the Auto-Cycle Union.
As part of this exciting new development, the Museum team will be increasing the number of motorcycles on display from 200 to almost 400 through the creation of a Wall of Bikes and other new displays. TT Memorabilia is being displayed throughout the Museum, on the walls and in our specially designed toolbox display cabinets. A replica of an iconic Marshals Hut from the Mountain has also been created to pay tribute to the Marshals without whom the TT could not occur. We also very privileged to showcase the collection of Bob McIntyre — the first rider to complete a lap at over 100mph average speed.
Just as the Isle of Man Motor Museum continually evolves and changes, so too will our Isle of Man TT Museum. We ask all TT fans and collectors to please let us know what gems you have hidden in your garage, shed, attic, drawer or under the bed which could help us make the Museum even more spectacular. We also appeal to motorcycle collectors who have machines that they may wish to display to please contact us.
Our volunteers always love sharing stories with our visitors and hearing them recount their own experiences of the TT. If this would interest you, then please ask us about volunteering at the Museum.
Darren Cunningham, Director of the Isle of Man Motor Museum said “This is a very exciting time for all of the team at the Isle of Man Motor Museum and we are extremely proud to be able to showcase the 110 years of motorsport history behind the world’s ultimate road race.”

TOM HARTLEY JNR IS AWARDED QUEEN’S AWARD FOR
INTERNATIONAL TRADE
  • Tom Hartley Jnr Ltd is proud to announce that it has been awarded a coveted Queen’s Award for International Trade
  • The award recognises the company’s outstanding short-term growth in overseas sales since it was established in May 2014
  • In only three years, the company has grown its international trade by 130%, achieving £33.3 million in turnover attributable to overseas business
G5

Tom Hartley Jnr, one of the most highly regarded and best-known names in the performance and classic car market, has won the highly prestigious Queen’s Award for International Trade.

Remarkably, Tom has been involved in the high-end car business since he was 11 years old, working directly in the family business, of which he became a full partner by the time he was 16 years old. Tom’s decision to leave the family firm to launch his own venture in 2014 may have surprised many at the time; however, for those who knew Tom personally, the departure was considered an inevitable one—simply due to the fact that he had his own vision that could only be fully pursued independently. Tom Hartley Jnr Ltd was established in 2014 with the aim of being the place to buy or sell a significant performance or classic car. The company is known for operating at the highest end of the market and supplying only the best cars to numerous clients around the world. From a private showroom in Derbyshire, Tom Hartley Jnr Ltd has established a true global reach, with overseas markets extending from the USA to New Zealand. Overseas sales have grown from £14.5m to £33.3m, representing an astonishing overall growth of 130%.

The company successfully built its business through a combination of Tom’s personal reputation and contacts and a solid business strategy to progressively enter new markets. A true British success story, the company has carved out a unique niche in which its domestic reputation has allowed it to expand into new markets and, as a result, it has achieved phenomenal accomplishments.

Tom Hartley Jnr says of the award: “It is an honour to receive the Queen’s Award and I accept it with genuine pride. Although I have been in this business for 23 years, my own business was only established under four years ago. To have achieved the sort of growth we have accomplished in that time is a testament to the quality of our customer service and the incredible quality of the vehicles we trade in. We occupy a unique place in the market in terms of our approach to both domestic and international trade, and through the sheer quality of what we offer our clients, we have enjoyed amazing success.”

The 250 Testa Rossa was designed to offer customers already racing with the 500 TRC a much more powerful engine on a similar chassis to help retain the former model’s great handling. As a result the reliable V12 from the 250 Gran Turismo was used albeit with a radically tuned with six twin-choke carburettors. Compared with the 500 TRC, only the valve covers were painted red, but the car still kept the Testa Rossa name and won the Manufacturers’ World Championship in 1958

Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb have partnered with Octane Magazine for the 2018 season as the Worcestershire motorsport venue goes into its record-breaking 113th year.
The partnership will see two Octane Concours at the two big weekends of the seven weekend competition season at the hill with two very different events. The first will be for pre-’85 cars to be held at the ‘Classic Nostalgia’ weekend on July 28th and 29th, while the second will be for 1985 cars onwards to be held at the ‘Championship Challenge’ weekend over August 11th and 12th that is the highpoint of the British Hill Climb season and the actual 113th birthday - to the day - of the hill.
The ‘Octane Magazine Young Timer Concours’ on August 12th opens up a new opportunity for car owners coming to Shelsley where there is a Concours catering for owners of younger classic cars, something that has never taken place before at the venue. It will embrace cars from the ‘80s and ‘90s homologation special era such at the Ford Sierra and Escort Cosworth, Lancia Integrale, Toyota Celica GT-4, Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evolution and BMW M3 through to modern day supercars from Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Audi.
Other events taking place over the August 11th and 12th weekend will reflect the history of Shelsley Walsh as well as seeing the fastest cars in the British Hill Climb Championship hit 145mph over the finish line.
Octane Magazine will have an increased presence at the venue together with offering members of Shelsley Walsh’s organising club, the Midland Automobile Club, and fans of Shelsley Walsh Octane subscriptions both on site and digitally.

Shelsley Walsh will give exclusive access for Octane Magazine to access the Shelsley Walsh archive and other aspects of the 113-year-old hill that have not been seen before. These will appear in the magazine in the coming months.

SHELSLEY WALSH - Bromyard Speed Festival On Tour Rescheduled

Bromyard Speed Festival On Tour Rescheduled
Due to adverse ground conditions in the competition and public car parks, the directors of Bromyard Festival on Tour have taken the decision, in conjunction with the venue owners, to postpone the event, due to take place this Sunday 8th April, to a new date Sunday 13th May.

The organisers confirmed the following “We feel that, rather than push a bad position regarding the conditions, it would be better to reschedule to a more favourable time in the year”.

Robin Webb, Operations manager at Shelsley Walsh said “There is a great deal of water logging around the site and the car park is currently unusable. With more rain forecast this week, the organisers have made the right decision to postpone until the weather, hopefully, is better in May
